Culinary Tour of Philadelphia, New York & Boston
2009 Tour Season

Join us for an unforgettable adventure to three great culinary destinations, Philadelphia, New York and Boston.   Philadelphia famous for its cheese steaks, hoagies and scrapple, New York famous for it’s woderful ethnic diversity and deli sandwiches and Boston for their chowder and Boston Cream Pie.  This seven day adventure will explore the great cuisines of each city. 

Day One

Your group arrives in Philadelphia at the Holiday Inn Express Midtown where you will be greeted by your escort who will be with you through Boston.   Tonight we enjoy a truly unique dinner at El Vez, a new Mexican cuisine.   Following dinner you will meet with your escort and discuss your week of culinary traveling. Day Two  

After breakfast, we board the coach for a short trip to Chinatown where we meet with Chef Joe Poon who will take you on a walk through Chinatown stopping at a Chinese market, bookstore, bakery and fortune cookie factory.  Following the walking tour we adjourn to Joe’s kitchen for a four course Chinese lunch and knife carving demonstration.   This afternoon we visit the historic Reading Terminal Market.  Learn the story behind cheese steaks, hoagies, pretzels and other Philly food favorites, and the 114-year history of the vibrant Reading Terminal Market where they're sold their foods during this 75-minute, food-writer-led walking tour.  Dinner is on your own this evening in one of Philadelphia’s fine restaurants.  (DCB, L) 

Day Three

Following breakfast, depart for New York City.  We arrive in the late morning and start our tour of the Meat packing and Chelsea Market.  Explore two old industrial areas that are evolving into the hottest new destinations in New York City. Discover how these locations are becoming known for gourmet food shops, ethnic restaurants, boutique shopping, and nightlife. Taste delicious specialties from seven food shops during this tour.  Following this program we will give you some free time to explore the city upon checking into our NYC hotel for the next two evenings.  An early dinner is planned so that you may enjoy a Broadway production on your own.    (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day Four

After breakfast, begin with a food tour of NYC Lower Eastside featuring deli’s, kosher pickles, bialys, empanadas, dumplings and knishes as well as visit other ethnic eateries on the Lower East Side.  Lunch at one of NYC famous deli’s.   This afternoon we enjoy a guided chocolate walking tour of the SoHo area where we will sample some of the cities great chocolates.  Dinner is on your own this evening.  Free time for dinner and a Broadway show on your own.  (Breakfast, Lunch) 

Day Five

Following breakfast, we journey to Boston.  Along our journey we travel through coastal New England making stops at a few unique culinary locations.  We visit Newport and have a traditional Newport lunch featuring Rhode Island Chowder and afternoon tour and tasting at local vineyard.  We continue to Braintree/Boston where we stay for the next two evenings.  Dinner is included at our hotel.   (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day Six

After breakfast, we journey into Boston where we will have a guided walking tour of the Italian North End of Boston where you will learn the history and food culture of this unique area in Boston.   We visit pastry shops, green grocers, coffee shops, delis and restaurants.  Lunch is one of the fine Italian restaurants.  This afternoon we visit the Sam Adams Brewing Company for a guided tour and tasting and conclude the day with a visit to Quincy Market.   In the late afternoon we travel to Gloucester for a delicious lobster dinner served overlooking the Gloucester Harbor.  (Breakfast, Lunch, Lobster Dinner)

Day Seven

After breakfast, depart for home taking with you many fond memories of your culinary adventure. (B)
